This is my first attempt at surrealism, because I'm trying to find which art style I'm most comfortable with before I build up my gallery. Stocks used: background by :iconenchantedstock: [link] woman by Fish by wine by carrots by wings by Comments are appreciated |

I know my art isn't good, and I'm here to try to improve it by practicing.
If you can't accept that, then I hope you fall into a woodchipper.
Then again, I hope you do either way.

so, the little lord want to say something about that picture. and now: here we go!
if you look at the background and then on your little fishgirl you see that the background is much sharper than the rest. normally it must be the exact opposite, so all the parts in the front sharp and background a bit blurry.
then, the next thing i saw is, that the fishgirl is transparent. is that wantet?
how do you cut the pieces of the stock? which tool do you use for it?
anyways: much words but i dont say your work is bad. just wrote you what i saw
keep it coming, and, important: good idea to try different styles to find your own. also try mixing them

Yes I did try to make it transparent.
I cut it with the lasso (I don't have any magnetic lassos because I use Gimp 2.4
And obviously used smudge for basically the whole fish head.
Does the smudge look bad, or fake? I think so. How could I make it realistic?

to make it realistic? you need more shadows and lights and it have to be much more sharp.
but i cant tell you how you can do that with gimp. no idea
